European shares closed down on Friday, led lower by automobile stocks, after U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) figures came in below expectations.

Asian markets ended mostly higher on Friday, as investors awaited the outcome of Greek debt talks and U.S. gross domestic product data due out later today. Japan's shares slipped after forecasts of big annual losses from NEC, Nintendo and Nippon Steel.
